Littmann Replacement Parts: What Exists, What Fits, and What You Can Swap Yourself
Share
The short answer
Most tired Littmann stethoscopes do not need replacing. They need a part. Everything visible and consumable swaps at home with no tools: tubing (from $29), the diaphragm, bell cover, and ear tips kit ($14), diaphragm and bell rings ($19), and ear tips ($9). What does not swap at home: chestpiece internals and the metal binaurals. Fit matters, so check the map below before ordering.
The fit map: what fits which Littmann
- Replacement tubing, from $29: fits the Classic III, Lightweight II S.E., and Pediatric. The fix for sticky, stiff, cracked, or discolored tubing, in 5 colors. The one part that does NOT fit the Cardiology line.
- Replacement parts kit, $14: diaphragm, bell cover, and ear tips. Fits the Classic III and the Cardiology III and IV.
- Diaphragm and bell ring color set, $19: the colored rims on both sides of the chestpiece, in 7 colors. Fits the Classic III and the Cardiology IV.
- Ear tip color set, $9: soft-seal ear tips in 7 colors. Fits the Classic III and the Cardiology IV.
- Full color kits, $39 to $49, ship free: tubing, rings, and ear tips as one matched set. Because they include tubing, kits fit the Classic III only.
- Hip holder ($29) and AirTag holder ($14): fit every brand and model, Littmann or not.
Worth knowing
Not sure which Littmann you own? Rotate the chestpiece and read the small etched model name, or use our 10-second identification guide. The one fit rule worth memorizing: replacement tubing fits the Classic III family only, never the Cardiology III or IV. The parts kit, ring set, and ear tips cover the Cardiology line too, and the holders fit everything.
What is not a home swap
The chestpiece internals and the metal binaurals are not user-replaceable, and we do not sell them. If the problem lives there, that is a manufacturer service or replacement question. For everything else, the visible, consumable parts, a swap saves you the $100 to $250 a comparable new Littmann costs, and keeps the chestpiece acoustics you already trust, because the chestpiece never comes off.
Fixing vs refreshing: the two reasons people order parts
Half of part orders are repairs: tubing gone sticky, stiff, or cracked, a clouded diaphragm, hardened ear tips. The other half are upgrades: the same parts in new colors, up to the full color change. Same catalog either way, which is the point: repair and self-expression are the same swap here.

Frequently Asked Questions
What parts of a Littmann stethoscope can be replaced at home?
The tubing, diaphragm, bell cover, diaphragm and bell rings, and ear tips, all tool-free. The chestpiece internals and metal binaurals are not user-replaceable.
Do any parts fit the Cardiology IV?
Yes, most of them. The $14 parts kit fits the Classic III and the Cardiology III and IV, and the ring set and ear tips fit the Cardiology IV as well. The one exception is replacement tubing, which fits the Classic III family only. The holders fit every brand and model.
Is it cheaper to replace parts or buy a new stethoscope?
Parts, by a wide margin: $9 ear tips, $14 parts kit, tubing from $29, full color refresh $49, versus $100 to $250 for a comparable new Littmann. The chestpiece never changes, so the acoustics stay exactly as you know them.
Why does my Littmann sound muffled?
Check the consumables in order: hardened or clogged ear tips, a cracked or badly seated diaphragm, then tubing that has stiffened with age. All three are inexpensive home swaps, and they cover the vast majority of tired-stethoscope complaints.
Will replacing parts change how my stethoscope sounds?
A tubing swap does not, because the chestpiece does the listening and never comes off. A fresh diaphragm and new ear tips often make things sound better, since worn ones are the usual culprits behind muffled sound.
Are these genuine Littmann parts?
No. Our parts are independent aftermarket accessories made to fit the Littmann models named on each product page, and we are not affiliated with 3M or Littmann. Littmann's own spare parts are diaphragm and ear tip kits in black or gray; colors are an aftermarket thing.
Can I get what I paid back for a stethoscope color kit or replacement tubing?
Yes. If you buy an eligible stethoscope color kit or replacement tubing from medmotivate.com, post a genuine before-and-after within 30 days after delivery, tag @MotivatEM with the required disclosure, and submit the post through the offer page, you can get what you paid for that item back as store credit toward a future order. This is store credit, not cash, and the offer applies only to eligible color kits and replacement tubing, not standalone ear tips, rings, holders, or other products.
